As many as 184 teas have entered the The Golden Leaf India Awards: Southern Tea Competition (TGLIA) and the Special Tea Competition organised by the United Planters Association of Southern India (UPASI) and the Tea Board of India. Murali Balan Padikkal, convener of the organising committee of the competition, said in a press release the TGLIA has generated an intense competition among the six tea growing regions in south India to produce better teas. The Specialty Tea Competition (STC) was also held as an exclusive segment designed to celebrate the diversity and craftsmanship of South India’s finest teas, such as black teas, white teas, green teas, and oolong teas.
