Randomisation of EVMs in progress in Sivaganga on Monday.

In view of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly General Elections, the process of allocating Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for all Assembly Constituencies in Sivaganga district through a randomisation method was held on Monday.

As polling is scheduled for April 23, 2026, the first phase of constituency-wise randomisation of EVMs was completed on Monday in the presence of General Election Observers – Kanchan Verma, (Sivaganga and Manamadurai (SC)) and Shama Parveen, (Karaikudi and Tiruppattur), along with the party representatives.

As per the process, for Karaikudi AC with 388 polling stations, 461 ballot units, 461 control units and 492 VVPATs; for Tirupattur AC with 368 polling stations, 437 ballot units, 437 control units and 467 VVPATs; for Sivaganga AC, 467 ballot units, 467 control units and 499 VVPATs; for Manamadurai (SC) AC, 369 polling stations, 439 ballot units, 439 control units and 468 VVPATs, have been allocated.

The process was conducted using the EVM Management System (EMS). Based on the unique identification numbers generated by the computer system for each constituency, the machines are being moved from the main storage warehouse in the Kanjirangal area.

The machines were being loaded into secure vehicles and transported under armed police escort to the high-security strongrooms established at the respective Tahsildar offices within the four constituencies, said the officials.

Collector K. Porkodi informed that these strongrooms were equipped with CCTV surveillance and guarded by police personnel. A detailed report regarding these allocations had been provided to all political party representatives, she added.
