The first phase of a multi-modal logistics park at Mappedu in Tiruvallur district, that promises to decongest Chennai port and increase the cargo handling capacity, will be ready in April, authorities have said. The park, whose estimated project cost is ₹1,424 crore, is situated close to major industrial and trading hubs. It will house a host of facilities including warehouses, cold storage, rail connectivity, container stack yards, common utilities, container freight station, and a truck parking spanning over 184.27 acres.
