Night service operations under way at the airport in Thoothukudi on Sunday. | Photo Credit: SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT The first-ever night services to Thoothukudi commenced on Sunday, with IndiGo operating its flights between Chennai and Thoothukudi in both directions. The new airport terminal in Thoothukudi was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 26 last year. In line with Airport Authority of India’s plan to increase the passenger capacity to 20 lakh per year in the next five years and to enhance Thoothukudi’s connectivity, a terminal spanning 17,340 sq km has been developed.
