A day after he was removed from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) social media team in Assam, Ron Bikash Gaurav hailed the “Right Wing community” for expressing solidarity with him.

On Wednesday (February 11, 2026), the State BJP sacked him as one of the four co-convenors of its social media team after outrage over an Artificial Intelligence-generated video that showed Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma symbolically shooting at Muslims.

The controversial video was deleted hours after it was uploaded on the Assam BJP’s X handle and generated more than 5,00,000 views.

“The last 24 hours have been one of the most emotional and defining moments of my life. In that difficult hour, when silence and uncertainty surrounded me, the Right Wing community did something I will never forget: you stood beside me like a wall of strength,” Mr. Gaurav posted on his social media handles.

“The flood of calls, the countless messages, the unexpected tweets, the words of solidarity from people I know and even from those I have never met, each one felt like a hand on my shoulder telling me you are not alone… Your support didn’t just comfort me; it gave me courage, dignity, and renewed faith,” he said.

The digital content creator launched a YouTube channel reportedly focused on right-wing content.

A day after the video was deleted, the Chief Minister said he was unaware of it and added that even a BJP leader had filed a case against the video’s content. He also clarified that the BJP was not against Assamese Muslims but the “illegal” Bangladeshi Muslims, referred to pejoratively as ‘miya’.

State BJP president Dilip Saikia said Mr. Gaurav was removed from the post of co-convenor for his “unauthorised” action.

“Our party is concerned about the issue of Bangladeshi immigrants in Assam, but we do not support the imagery used in the video. We got the video deleted from the X platform after noting that it was uploaded without permission,” he said.
