Representational image only. File Fire broke out in the ticket issuing office in Nellore railway station on Monday (March 16, 2026). However, no casualties were reported. Fire erupted in the stationery section in the ticket issuing office when the staff were issuing tickets. On seeing smoke, the staff closed the counter and alerted the railway officials. Fire tender rushed to the spot and put off the flames. “Some stationery was reduced to ashes in the incident. But, the ticket rolls were not damaged,” said South Central Railway (SCR) Vijayawada division Public Relations Officer Nusrat M. Mandrupkar. “The ticket issuing counter was closed for about an hour and the staff resumed duties later. Reasons for cause of fire was not known immediately,” Ms. Nusrat told The Hindu. The SCR, Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) officials rushed to the spot in the railway station. “Investigation is on,” the railway authorities said.
