ASHOK Filing of nominations for the 10 Assembly constituencies in Madurai district will begin on March 30. According to District Election Officer and Collector K. J. Praveen Kumar, nominations can be filed between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. from March 30 to April 6. Due to government holidays, nominations will be accepted only on four days: March 30, April 2, April 4, and April 6. Scrutiny of nominations will be taken up on April 7, and the last date for withdrawal is April 9. Candidates can submit their nomination papers to the Returning Officers at their constituencies. Candidates must also submit details of their bank account alongside their nomination papers. The designated account must be used exclusively for all election-related financial transactions and expenditures. On security arrangements, Madurai City Police Commissioner J. Loganathan has said that five nomination centres are in the city and the other five in rural limits. “Only three vehicles of candidates will be allowed inside the premises of the Returning Officer, and not more than four persons should accompany the candidate while filing the nomination.” Though separate entry and exits have been planned at the centres falling inside the city, alternative measures have been chalked out in places where such facility cannot be made, he added. As per the DEO, for Melur AC- RDO office chamber, Vellaripatti; Madurai East – Tahsildar chamber, Madurai East Taluk office; Sholavandan (SC) – Vadipatti taluk office chamber hall; Madurai North – Zone 2 Corporation office; Madurai South – Zone 4 Corporation office; Madurai Central – Zone 3 Corporation office, West Marret Street; Madurai West – Madurai West Taluk office; Thirupparankundram – Tahsildar chamber, Tirupparankundram taluk office; Tirumangalam – RDO office, Dharmathupatti, Tirumangalam; and Usilampatti – Sub-Collector office, RDO office.
