The annual fiesta, “Tiruchi Thiruvizha 2026”, hosted by the Tiruchi Zone of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), an initiative to celebrate the city’s culture and heritage, was held at the Uzhavar Sandhai grounds at Anna Nagar in Tiruchi on Saturday.

The two-day cultural fest began with Mayor M. Anbazhagan flagging off an awareness rally to highlight accessibility and inclusivity, emphasising the importance of creating spaces and opportunities that are welcoming to everyone, including persons with disabilities.

The event featured a variety of performances and activities, including band performances, bharatanatyam, silambam, yoga, parai, mime, seed ball making, western dance, and a photography workshop. A Students’ Bazaar displayed innovative science projects, while a dog show saw over 100 dogs participate, representing around 26 breeds.

Sunday’s itinerary includes folk dance performances, a walkathon, a Pongal competition, uriyadi, a food festival, a Zumba demonstration, and other cultural presentations. Automobile dealers, real estate promoters, have set up stalls offering special deals for visitors.
