A female student of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Palakkad was allegedly attacked by an unidentified person on the Kanjikode campus on Monday night. The student, who hails from Salem in Tamil Nadu, sustained injuries to her forehead and was admitted to a hospital in Coimbatore. IIT Palakkad officials said the injury was not serious. The incident occurred while she was returning to her hostel. According to IIT Palakkad officials, the student said she was unable to identify the assailant, who allegedly struck her with a wooden plank. Following the incident, students staged a protest on the campus, alleging lapses in security. They claimed that outsiders had previously gained access to the premises and that this was not the first such attack.
