The speakers at a round table meet, organised by the Forum for Development of North Andhra (FDNA), on Thursday, alleged that lands and other natural resources in the region are being handed over to corporate groups, and that people were being misled in the name of development. K.S. Chalam, a former member of the UPSC, said that there has been large scale acquisition of lands in North Andhra, including in the Agency areas, of late, in the name of setting up various projects. This, he said, was in violation of various laws. The allotment of 13.74 acres of prime land, near RK Beach, in Visakhapatnam city, to the LuLu Mall, he said was indicative of the Chandrababu Naidu-led government’s development model.
