Vedasandur Assembly constituency in Dindigul district, traditionally an agricultural hub, is facing drought. The farmers said several projects announced to alleviate the situation have unfortunately remained only on paper and not been implemented yet. In the 2026 Assembly elections, the DMK’s T. Saminathan will lock horns with the AIADMK’s V.P.B. Paramasivam. There is a straight battle between the two major Dravidian parties. Also in the fray are A. Khaja Hussain Ahamed of the Naam Tamilar Katchi and N. Nakajothi of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. Mr. Paramasivam had previously won the 2016 Assembly election from Vedasandur Assembly constituency. However, he lost in the 2021 Assembly election from the constituency. S. Gandhirajan of the DMK who won the 2021 Assembly election from Vedasandur Assembly constituency is not contesting the election this time.
