Atchannaidu. In a press release on Thursday, Mr. Atchannaidu said an emergency review was conducted following warnings from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) about thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds of 30–40 kmph, and hailstorms likely over the next three to four days. The review, held via teleconference with senior officials, including the Agriculture Department and Horticulture wing, assessed the evolving situation across the State. The Minister noted that a trough over the Bay of Bengal was influencing widespread rainfall, with Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhra, and North Coastal districts expected to face significant impact. He expressed concern over potential damage to crops such as banana, mango, chilli, and maize. Officials were directed to immediately identify affected fields and record crop losses without delay. Advising farmers to take precautions, Mr. Atchannaidu urged them to harvest ripe crops early, secure farm equipment, and avoid staying in fields during adverse weather, especially lightning.
