A family that worked as bonded labourers on a cattle farm was rescued.

Jaganathan (40), a resident of Pudhukombai near Muthukapatti, took ₹85,000 as advance to work in a cattle farm in the locality. But, he was unable to repay the advance amount. Following this, the cattle farm owner, Ammasi (60), allegedly made his wife, aged 36, and two sons work on the cattle farm and did not pay salary for them.

Meanwhile, acting on a tip-off, Namakkal Revenue Divisional Officer Shanti, and revenue officials went to the farm on Thursday, inquired, and rescued the family. The Sendamangalam police registered a case against the farm owner under sections 16 and 17 of the Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act, section 143 (3) of BNS, and section 3 (1) (h) of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and are investigating further.
