Sri Krishna Sweets Private Limited has lodged a complaint with the city police about an entity using the company’s name with its fake URL and announcing Pongal prize. According to the complaint registered with the cyber crime wing, a fake claim has been made in the URL that an event named Pongal Parisu entailing ₹50,000 prize money will be conducted. The ‘fake’ website has been directing the applicants since January 5 to send the same to 10 WhatsApp groups to claim the prize amount, by including the name of the director and chief executive officer. In a separate press release, the sweet company said the information was “entirely false and no such offer has been announced or authorised by us through any official channel”. “We urge the public to disregard the fake messages and to verify all updates only through our official website and verified social media handles,” the release said.
