Excise officers attacked by MDMA case accused

Two excise officials were injured after an accused in an MDMA possession case attacked officers during an arrest operation at Akkulam on Thursday.

According to official sources, the accused, Akash Krishna, a habitual offender with multiple cases registered against him, attacked Aromal Rajan and Gokul, both members of an Excise special squad.

The accused, who was lured into a trap, turned violent and assaulted the officers. He also bit one of the officers on his hand and face.

Excise officials seized 12 g of MDMA and 25 g of ganja from the accused.

The injured officers were rushed to the Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College Hospital for treatment.
