Excise nod for 27 notified bars in Vizag

The Visakhapatnam division of the Prohibition and Excise division has selected a total of 27 applications through a public lottery to operate notified bar and restaurants. Visakhapatnam Joint Collector G. Vidhyadhari presided over the selection.

To activate the licence, each selected applicant must deposit ₹18.5 lakh as security. The deposit is mandatory before any of the notified bars can begin operations.

The move is expected to generate substantial revenue for the State government while regulating the number of liquor-serving establishments in the port city, the officials said.
