A group of ex-servicemen engaged for protection of temples by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment Department through the Thanjavur District Police, has sought the intervention of the Collector to clear the hurdles in receiving their salary for the last three months. Inquiries reveal that around 50 ex-servicemen have been engaged by the department and deployed for protection duty at various temple coming under 23 police station domains in Thanjavur district. Claiming that they had not received their salary for December, January and February, they said they had approached the Superintendent of Police seeking his intervention to get their issue resolved.
