A 34-year-old woman has sought government assistance after her hut at Kamaraj Nagar in Nambiyur was completely destroyed in a fire accident on Sunday. In a petition submitted to the district administration on Monday, Vijayalakshmi, a daily wage worker in a private garment unit, said the fire broke out at her residence around 5 p.m. on March 1. The blaze rapidly engulfed the hut, reducing all household articles, including clothes and utensils, to ashes. Her husband, Subramani, a temporary sanitation worker with the Nambiyur Town Panchayat and a member of the Tamil Nadu Sanitary Workers Welfare Board, sustained burns while attempting to douse the flames. He is currently undergoing treatment.
