Andhra Pradesh State Commission for Scheduled Castes member Ravada Seetharam inspecting a poorly maintained borewell at Burugu village in Veeraghattam mandal of Parvatipuram Manyam district on Friday. | Photo Credit: BY ARRANGEMENT Andhra Pradesh State Commission for Scheduled Castes member Ravada Seetharam on Friday directed officials concerned to ensure basic civic amenities such as drinking water, internal roads and drainage systems in Scheduled Castes colonies in several villages of Veeraghattam, Palakonda and other mandals of Parvatipuram Manyam district. Mr. Seetharam made a surprise visit to Tudi and Burugu villages in Veeraghattam mandal and expressed displeasure over the poor maintenance of borewells and drainage systems. He directed the officials to complete repairs to borewells and handpumps by April so that residents would not face problems in accessing potable water during the summer. He also asked panchayat officials to focus on sanitation as several residents had expressed concern over possible contamination of water in their colonies.
