Engineering student ‘ends life’ in JNTU-GV hostel

A second-year Electrical and Electronics Engineering student died by suicide in his hostel room at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Gurajada, Vizianagaram, on Friday. Police identified him as B. Venkata Udaya Teja, 20, a native of Visakhapatnam. Rural police officials visited the spot, shifted the body to the Government General Hospital for post-mortem examination, recovered a suicide note, and registered a case of suspicious death.

According to the police, the student had been under depression in recent days despite friends counselling him against taking any extreme step, citing the distress it would cause to his family. Those in distress can seek support by calling helpline 100.
