Endowments Minister launches desilting works at Kanigiri reservoir

As a part of Jaladhara-Jalaharathi programme, a 100-day initiative focused on drought mitigation, Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy launched desilting works at Kanigiri reservoir in Sangam mandal of Atmakur constituency in SPSR Nellore district on Monday.

He presented a sari to goddess Gangamma and formally launched the desilting works at a cost of ₹84.75 lakh in the main canal of the reservoir. Under his leadership, the Jaladhara-Jalaharathi programme is being organised in Atmakur with an aim of saving every drop of water.

The Minister held a meeting with the local farmers on the 100-day action plan for water conservation. The presidents of irrigation associations and farmers attended the programme in large numbers.

Mr. Anam discussed about water conservation with the members of irrigation associations and farmers. He suggested to fill all the tanks and crop canals with water sources to provide irrigation water to the last lands in the dry areas of Atmakur constituency.
