Panic gripped Kannadiparamba in Kannur after an elephant ran amok during a temple festival late on Wednesday (April 1, 2026) night. The incident occurred around 11 p.m. after the end of festivities at the Dharmasastha Temple, Kannadiparamba. According to locals, the animal suddenly turned violent damaging an autorickshaw and a parked car. The elephant, identified as Karnan, was brought under control around 5 a.m. on Thursday (April 2, 2026) with the help of a special squad from Kozhikode. No one was injured in the incident.
