Electronics City Police have arrested a duo stealing laptops, mostly from Paying Guest (PG) accommodations, and recovered 48 laptops worth ₹40 Lakh.

Based on a complainant from a resident of a PG accommodation on Abbayya Street in Doddathoguru about theft of laptops from the facility, the Electronics City Police registered a case and carried out searches at multiple locations and collected technical and intelligence inputs before zeroing in on Rajadorai (33), an autorickshaw driver, at Mandavalli Circle in Kalakurichi district, Tamil Nadu.

During interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed to committing the theft and revealed information about his associate, Gautam (30), a laptop service technician who refurbished them before selling. He also disclosed that similar laptop thefts had been carried out at several PG accommodations across Bengaluru.

The second accused, during questioning, admitted that the stolen laptops were sold for financial gain and Gautham used to format the laptops and sell it in grey market.

City Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh has advised PG residents to be careful while keeping their valuables and ensure a proper locking system. The jurisdictional police have been told to carry out awareness campaigns at the PGs in their jurisdiction on preventive measures and ensure safety of the residents.
