In view of the upcoming Assembly elections, a consultation meeting was held at Thoothukudi district Collectorate on Friday, in the presence of Collector and District Election Officer K. Elambahavth and the election observers appointed for Thoothukudi district.

The meeting was held for the coordination officers, election expenditure monitoring committee, enforcement department officers and coordinators from government and private banks.

During the meeting, each officer assigned to the election works were briefed in detail about their respective tasks. The officers assigned to the expenditure monitoring committee were instructed on the rules for tracking the amount spent by the candidates contesting the election. The bank managers were briefed on the procedures to be followed in sharing the details of daily financial transactions with enforcement officials during the election period.

Election observers also issued instructions on the functioning of various teams, including the flying squads and emphasised strict monitoring of election code of conduct.

Thoothukudi District Superintendent of Police C. Madhan, Thoothukudi District Revenue officer M. Guruchandran and returning officers of the six constituencies and other officials were present.
