The Police have registered a case against a man for allegedly setting fire to a chicken coop after pouring petrol on it during a domestic dispute at Edayannur killing eights hens. The case was registered against Edayannur native Hameed following a complaint lodged by his wife C.V. Khadeeja. According to the complaint, the incident occurred around 3.30 a.m. on January 27. The accused allegedly set ablaze the chicken coop near the residence after dousing it with petrol. Eight hens kept in the coop were charred to death. The complainant stated that the incident cause a loss of around ₹50,000. Hameed is absconding and efforts are on to trace him.
