Delhi University’s (DU) revenue from student fees rose from ₹195 crore in the financial year 2023-2024 to ₹292 crore in 2024-2025, according to the audited annual accounts discussed during a meeting on Friday.

While the university administration attributed the rise to the expansion of academic programmes and increased student intake, dissenting teachers claimed that the jump was largely driven by fee hikes imposed on students.

University Registrar Vikas Gupta said the average increase in fees remained limited to around 8-10%. “The increase in total fees collected is because new courses have been added. There are additional batches now in recently launched programmes such as the B.Tech and the five-year integrated LL.B course,” he said.

Raising objections, Executive Council member and professor Mithuraaj Dhusiya said  the accounts do not clearly explain how this jump has occurred
