Mani Kumar has directed the managements of all schools and colleges to strictly adhere to safety norms in the transportation of students by buses and vans. He said special teams of the Transport Department conducted inspections simultaneously in different parts of the district to check the fitness and safety standards of school and college buses. Mr. Mani Kumar asked the managements to appoint well trained drivers and attendants so that safety norms are followed while operating the vehicles. He advised them to install speed governors to ensure that drivers do not exceed the prescribed speed limits. Emergency exit doors should also be maintained in proper working condition. He added that all buses would be issued fitness certificates only after thorough inspection during the summer holidays.
