Seven people narrowly escaped when a speeding car rammed into a road divider and crashed into a hotel on 100 ft road in Indiranagar, Bengaluru, on late on Thursday night (January 9, 2026).

The entire incident was captured on CCTV footage.

According to the JB Nagar traffic police, the accident occurred around 11:34 p.m. when an overspeeding car came from 18th Main Road, Indiranagar. The driver failed to take a left turn and instead drove straight, jumping onto the divider before crashing into a hotel.

Police said the car was driven by 42-year-old Derrick Tony, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

At the time of the incident, a group of young men and women who had finished dinner were standing outside the hotel. Upon hearing the loud crash as the car hit the divider, they quickly ran away, narrowly escaping injury.

Police said the accident was caused by overspeeding and drunk driving, and that the car owner himself was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash. He sustained minor injuries and was admitted to the hospital. The police are awaiting his recovery to question him.

A case has been registered under the jurisdiction of the Jeevan Bima Nagar Traffic Police Station.
