The Tamil Nadu Government Doctors’ Association (TNGDA) has demanded that the Health Department drop its move to redeploy assistant and associate professor posts to create teaching faculty positions for psychology. In a letter to the Health Secretary, the association welcomed the recent efforts to introduce undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Psychology in medical college hospitals. However, it stressed that these programmes must be implemented in accordance with the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP) norms.
