A team from Kundapur Rural Police Station in Udupi district have arrested Shashikanth Shetty, 44, an accused in a dowry harassment case, in Murshirabad district in West Bengal. He had failed to appear before the jurisdictional court for 10 years. The team, comprising Assistant Sub Inspector S. Shankar and Head Constable Ashok Shetty, went to Baninathpur in Murshirabad district and secured Shashikanth Shetty. He was produced before the jurisdictional court on March 1 and was remanded to Hiriyadka District Prison in Udupi district. The case under Sections 498 A, 323, 504 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 3, 4, and 6 of the Dowry Prohibition Act was registered in 2015, the police said.
