The Healthcare Reforms Doctors Association (HRDA) has urged the Telangana government to prioritise and complete the recruitment of Assistant Professors under the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) before proceeding with the appointment of Civil Assistant Surgeon (Specialist) posts under the Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad (TVVP). The HRDA argued that completing the Assistant Professor recruitment first would bring clarity to the process, as candidates who secure Assistant Professor positions would opt for DME roles, while vacancies in specialist posts would then be clearly available to the remaining eligible candidates. According to the association, this sequencing would prevent confusion, dual selections, multiple joining issues and avoidable administrative complications. “Prioritising the Assistant Professor recruitment would immediately address the ongoing faculty shortage in government medical colleges across Telangana,” it said.
