The Legal Coordination Committee (LCC) for Government Doctors has expressed disappointment and shock over the absence of any announcement fulfilling the promises made to government doctors in the final Budget of the DMK regime.

In a statement issued, LCC stated that they expected the government would announce the fulfilment of promises to doctors in the final Assembly session. They also hoped that a grant of a government job would be provided for the wife of Vivekanandan, a government doctor who died during COVID-19 duty, and expected an announcement to double the posts of doctors and nurses in government hospitals.

Unlike Central government doctors and other State doctors, Tamil Nadu government doctors are denied equal pay. LCC said they are not asking for new pay hikes but to implement the existing Government Order (G.O.) 354. Despite years of struggle demanding the allocation of ₹25 crore per month for government doctors, the government has still not fulfilled their demand.

LCC requested the Chief Minister to immediately announce doubling of posts for doctors and nurses in government hospitals, implementation of G.O. 354 and grant of government employment to Divya Vivekanandan. The association urged the Chief Minister to fulfil the promises before the Assembly election announcement.
