ASHOK DMK youth wing cadres should work without any complacency though the DMK is certain to win the Assembly election for the seventh time, DMK president and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin said here on Saturday. Addressing the South Zone DMK Youth Wing conference, Mr. Stalin said that the young cadres should continue to campaign seeking votes till the last minute. “Whether any family has been voting for the DMK for generations or it has never voted for the party, you should keep meeting people and canvass votes for DMK till the last minute. This is the task I give you,” he said. The DMK government should continue in the State for protecting social justice and State autonomy. The party had brought in reservation in jobs and education to break the barriers that denied them to the masses of the State. However, still hurdles were being put in the form of NEET to deny education to the people, he said. “Only the DMK has the power to stop it, and the youth wing should work towards that,” he said. Though the DMK had been fighting for State autonomy for decades, the BJP now is again centralising all the powers and trying to reduce States into municipalities. “The BJP is trying to wipe out regional parties. However, Tamil Nadu is the only State which the BJP is unable to touch,” he said. While DMK was fighting for self-respect of the people, the “slaves and traitors” were trying to pledge the self-respect of the State by joining hands with the “enemy”, he said. DMK youth wing secretary and Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin said what the double engine governments in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh could not achieve, the Dravidian model government in Tamil Nadu had achieved. “While Tamil Nadu has achieved double digit growth of 11.19%, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh could not achieve even half of it,” the Deputy Chief Minister said. “Those who come to Tamil Nadu during election will disappear after the polls,” he added.
