All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary and former Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami, on Saturday, accused the DMK government of spending heavily on advertisements while neglecting people’s welfare.

Addressing a public meeting at Kandampalayam in the Anthiyur Assembly constituency during his State-wide tour, Mr. Palaniswami alleged that Chief Minister M. K. Stalin was spending nearly ₹2 crore a day on advertisements. He also criticised the proposed ₹82-crore pen memorial for former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and said the expenditure should instead be met from the DMK’s ₹8,000-crore party trust.
