VENKATACHALAPATHY PMK leader Anbumani on Tuesday urged the party’s youth wing to work hard to ensure the “DMK does not retain power in Tamil Nadu” after this year’s Assembly poll. He wanted the DMK’s tally in the poll to be restricted to a “single digit number of seats”. Addressing the general body meeting of the party’s youth wing, he claimed that while the DMK was contesting this election relying only on money power, the PMK would face it relying on the people. “We have entered a good alliance — the National Democratic Alliance, led by the AIADMK. This alliance will win in at least 200 constituencies. My desire is the DMK should win only in single digits. Across Tamil Nadu, people from all sections are extremely angry with the DMK government. From government employees and teachers to women and youth, people from all sections are furious,” Dr. Anbumani remarked. “Assistant professors, nurses, teachers, doctors, panchayat secretaries, noon-meal workers — DMK gave false promises to all categories of employees. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, who did nothing for the people during five years of DMK rule, has released 26 announcements in the last 45 days. Kalaignar Kanavu Illam, Anbu Solai scheme, Idhayam Kaappom — every day they keep announcing some scheme or the other. Neither the officers, who draft these schemes, nor the Chief Minister knows what they really are, and no funds are allocated for them,” he added. Businessmen in Cabinet He also criticised some State Ministers. “E.V. Velu is not a Minister (PWD); he is a businessman. In another two months, he will be counting prison bars. He comes to our area and speaks derogatorily about us. The DMK has allotted him 47 constituencies including Salem, Tiruvannamalai, and Dharmapuri. At the village level, DMK members have transported money for vote-buying and safely stashed it away. Like Velu, there are four more businessmen in the Cabinet,” he claimed.
