A few persons allegedly defrauded a DMK functionary, Nagalingam of Periyakulam, of ₹1.30 crore under the pretext of securing him a seat to contest the Assembly elections from Periyakulam constituency in Theni district. Periyakulam police have registered a case following a complaint lodged by Nagalingam. The police are interrogating two persons, Karthik and Abu Tahir, in connection with the case.
