A total of 13,155 senior citizens aged above 85 years and 20,379 Persons with Disability (PwD) in the nine Assembly constituencies in Cuddalore district have been identified as eligible to cast their votes through postal ballot in the upcoming Assembly elections.

They have the option of casting their vote through postal ballot and they can apply through Form 12D which will be distributed directly to their houses by officials from March 20. The form should be filled up and submitted to the Booth Level Officer concerned by March 24, according to District Election Officer and Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar.

In respect of PwD candidates, the benchmark disability should not be less than 40% of the specified disability as stipulated by the concerned certifying authority.

Polling officials will visit the elector’s house and get them to vote on the postal ballot. The electors will be intimated, in advance, about the date and approximate time of the visit of polling officers through SMS.

If the elector is not present at the given address during the first visit, the team will leave an intimation on the date and time of their second visit. If the elector is not present even on the second visit, no further visit or action will be entertained, the DEO said.
