With surplus supply, the price of tomatoes is seeing a downward spiral at Gandhi Market in Tiruchi.

The price of tomato has plummeted in the city markets due to steady increase in supply.

A kg of premium quality tomato was sold at ₹15 by retail traders at Gandhi Market on Tuesday, while second grade varieties were priced between ₹10 and ₹13. In the wholesale market, a box of tomatoes weighing 25 kg was quoted at ₹350.
