KARTHIKEYAN Senior leader and AIADMK sitting MLA Dindigul C. Srinivasan filed his nomination for Dindigul Assembly Constituency here on Monday. Accompanied by alliance partners, the veteran politician submitted the papers in the presence of alliance partners at the auspicious hour. His son Rajmohan (56) filed papers as a dummy candidate. BJP district president Muthuramalingam, PMK district secretary John Kennedy, AMMK district secretary Nallasami were present at the time of nomination. Representing the DMK, I P Senthil Kumar filed his papers for Dindigul Assembly Constituency and DMK city secretary Rajappa (60) filed papers as his substitute. He was accompanied by CPI (M) leader Bala Bharathi, MDMK’s district secretary Selvaraghavan, District Congress Committee president Manikandan and among others. The DMK’s Senthil Kumar was a sitting MLA from Palani AC in the outgoing Assembly and following the party’s decision to field him in Dindigul, he filed the papers here. When the police permitted the AIADMK candidate’s car to enter the office of the Returning Officer, the DMK cadres raised objection. However, after persuasion, the vehicle was allowed, party men said. Later in the evening, the police filed cases against AIADMK candidate and some of his supporters on charges of obstructing officials from discharging their duties and among others. As the time for the nominations came to a close, the officials said that a total of 103 nominations were received on April 6 alone from the Dindigul district which included DMK and AIADMK and others. In the neighbouring Theni district, the officials said that Andipatti received 32 nominations, Periyakulam: 24, Bodinayakkanur: 35 and Cumbum 21.
