Seminar held

G.T.N. Arts College, Dindigul, through Consumer Research, Education, Action, Training Empowerment (CREATE), with the Department of Commerce with Professional Accounting and the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), organised a one-day seminar on ‘consumer awareness on telecom services’.

During the event, M. Dhineshkumar, Head of the Department, highlighted the importance of consumer education and awareness in the telecom sector.

Special lectures elaborated on consumer protection, ethical practices in telecom services, digital literacy, and the role of regulatory institutions.

The 84th Annual Day of Nadar Saraswathi Higher Secondary School, under the management of Theni Melapettai Hindu Nadargal Uravinmurai (TMHNU), was held.

M. Maruthaiya, former general secretary of TMHNU and former secretary of Nadar Saraswathi Higher Secondary School, and A. Balasubramanian, Dean, Forest College and Research Institute, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Mettupalayam, were the chief guests.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Maruthaiya stated that education is a form of penance; therefore, students must avoid distractions, use time wisely, and strive for success in life.

Mr. Balasubramaniam asked today’s students to come forward to become agricultural scientists and entrepreneurs, learn agricultural science with enthusiasm, and contribute to India’s path of development.

Prizes were distributed to the students who secured the first three ranks in X, XI and XII standard Public Examinations of the previous academic year.

The 50th Graduation Day of V. V. Vanniaperumal College for Women, Virudhunagar, was held.

Speaking at the event, chief guest N. Panchanatham, vice-chancellor of Gandhigram Rural Institute – Deemed to be University, Ministry of Education, Gandhigram, Dindigul, quoted the life history of Kalki, Mathematician Ramanujan, Charlie Chaplin, Malala Yousafzai and Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, who had reached greater heights amidst their hardships.

Totally 1076 UG and 221 PG graduands from various disciplines were conferred with degrees.

State-level ‘Ramnad Hackathon’, organised by StartupTN in association with Syed Ammal Innovation and Incubation Council, brought together students from across Tamil Nadu to develop innovative solutions to key social and environmental challenges in Ramanathapuram district.

Government and private engineering colleges presented practical, technology-driven ideas addressing issues such as water management, waste management, agricultural development, environmental protection and rural livelihood enhancement.

First prize was secured by a team from MEPCO Schlenk Engineering College for their project on converting Prosopis juliflora (seemai karuvelam) into value-added products.

Divyanshu Nigam, Additional District Collector of Ramanathapuram district, distributed prizes and certificates to the winners.

The 63rd College Day and Founder’s Day was celebrated at Ayya Nadar Janaki Ammal College, Sivakasi.

During the event, chief guest, V. Narayanan, Secretary, Department of Space and Chairman, ISRO, Bengaluru, paid tribute to the visionary industrialist P. Ayya Nadar. He distributed prizes and medals to the faculty and Students.

Student T. Novika Ruby proposed a vote of thanks.

Quiz competition

A quiz competition was conducted for the students of CSI Middle School, Oddanchatram, on behalf of World Awareness Day.

Dr. A. Asaithambi, MD, Secretary, Indian Medical Association, Oddanchathram branch, Former Chief Medical Officer, Oddanchathram Government Hospital, and Daniel, Deputy Registrar Cooperative, (Rtd) were present at the event.

He explained the symptoms and signs of anaemia – extreme fatigue and weakness, shortness of breath, palpitations, light-headedness, brittle nails and hair loss. He also advised the students to take food rich in iron.

Sri Krishnasamy Arts and Science College, Sattur, organised a campus placement drive in collaboration with Foxconn Private Limited, TATA Electronics Private Limited, and Unitech Plasto Components Private Limited.

Chairman K. Raju and Secretary R. Muthukumar were chief guests. Principal N. Subburaj, along with Principal of PSNL College of Education J. Rajeswari presided.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Subburaj emphasised the importance of employment opportunities for students.

Nearly 203 students participated; of them, 150 received their offer letters.
