Krishnan, Secretary, Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, said in Thanjavur on Saturday. Delivering the Nani Palkhivala Memorial Lecture hosted by SASTRA (Deemed University) on Saturday, Mr. Krishnan highlighted the accelerated growth of the digital economy, which is expected to be 20% of Indian economy by 2030 from 12% in 2021-22. Mr. Krishnan focused on the economic potential of the growing export market for Indian electronic components. Mr. Krishnan inaugurated the institution’s second phase of Bajaj Engineering Skills Training (BEST) centre that comprises of facilities for electronics manufacturing, firmware development, e-mobility, semiconductor testing, and packaging assembly line. Ranjan Bandhopadhyay, chief human resources officer, Tata Electronics, and K. Sureshabu, founder, Caliber Interconnects, signed a Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with SASTRA, aimed at promoting capacity building in electronics manufacture and semiconductor production respectively on Saturday. Ravi Kyran, chief human resources officer, Bajaj Auto, and S. Vaidhyasubramaniam, SASTRA Vice-Chancellor, spoke.
