Notably, the film has received over 21 cuts and modifications. As per reports, the film was initially certified with an ‘A’ certificate by the CBFC. However, it went to the Examining Committee (EC) which suggested these modifications. Certain abusive words were muted and replaced and the CBFC didn’t provide details of these words in the cut list. Along with that, violent visuals were shortened throughout the film, including reducing the visual of a hammer hitting a head by 2 seconds, a cement block hitting a head and another of an eye getting smashed by 4 seconds each. Further, visuals of beheading and kicking were shortened by 24 seconds. The EC also asked to make two corrections, one, regarding a historical event in the subtitles and the other about the name of a city. The makers were also asked to add a disclaimer on drugs and another one addressing the violence that read, “This film includes disturbing content, and viewer discretion is strongly recommended”. The second part will also be divided in chapters like the first part and the makers were asked to write the chapter names in Hindi. For scenes portraying animals, the Animal Welfare Board certificate was submitted. Along with that, as the film makes references to the Prime Minister and uses news footage, an official permission letter for the same was submitted. All the cuts and modifications come down to over 94 seconds which makes the film’s runtime 229 minutes. The first part was over 214 minutes long. Meanwhile, Dhurandhar The Revenge has been running strong at the box office as it dominates the advance booking. With the paid previews scheduled for March 18, the film has grossed around Rs 38 crore, as per industry tracker Sacnilk. Even for its Day 1, domestic sales have crossed Rs 24.50 crore, selling over 6.25 lakh tickets across the country. The film’s overseas business has been pulling in great numbers too with pre-sales for the opening weekend expected to amass Rs 60 crore. Combining the domestic and overseas advance booking collections, the film’s opening weekend pre-sales figure stands at Rs 124 crore with block seats. Written and directed by Aditya Dhar, the film also stars Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Sara Arjun, and Arjun Rampal in pivotal roles. It is produced by JioStudios and B62 Studios. The first part, Dhurandhar, was released in theatres on December 5 and turned out to be a blockbuster success at the box office. The film was noted for its stylised blend of action and pumped-up music while also getting criticised for mixing real-life events with fiction to push an ultra-nationalist narrative.
