Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi, along with senior advocates and MLAs from North Karnataka, visiting the Supreme Court Bar Association and Delhi High Court Bar Association buildings in New Delhi on February 20. | Photo Credit: SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT The State government has decided to construct a new building for the Bar Association at the Dharwad Bench of the High Court of Karnataka on the lines of the Delhi High Court Bar Association building, Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi said. According to a press release, Mr. Jarkiholi led a delegation of senior advocates and MLAs from North Karnataka to visit the Supreme Court Bar Association and Delhi High Court Bar Association buildings in New Delhi on February 20 to inspect the facilities available there. Speaking on the occasion, he said the government is committed to providing state-of-the-art infrastructure at the Dharwad High Court Bar Association building, including an auditorium, library, conference hall, mediation centres, and digital facilities for advocates, litigants, and the public. During the visit, senior advocate Mohan Kataraki also interacted with the delegation. Referring to the Kalasa-Banduri projects, He said that the Mahadayi Tribunal had already delivered its award and the Union government had issued the notification and granted Detailed Project Report approval. He advised that the State government should secure necessary clearances, including from the National Board for Wildlife and the Union Environment Ministry, and commence work. He said once the work begins, the State can legally pursue its claim before the Supreme Court to secure the additional 7 tmcft of water. He said that better utilisation of surplus floodwater from Almatti during the monsoon could help address shortages in the Ghataprabha and Malaprabha reservoirs and benefit districts facing irrigation and drinking water scarcity. Senior advocates of the Supreme Court, Dharward High Court bench activists, N.H. Konaraddi, Navalgund MLA, and other dignitaries were present.
