Devotee faints at Kumbakonam temple, dies

Sasikumar, 55, of Thathuvancheri, Vellore, reportedly died while waiting in a queue to have darshan of fig wood Perumal idol at Kumbakonam on Tuesday.

According to police, Sasi Kumar was waiting in the queue at Sri Varadarajaperumal temple, Kumbakonam, to have darshan of fig wood Perumal idol. He fainted and was rushed to the Government District Headquarters Hospital at Kumbakonam, where he was declared dead on arrival.
