Aysha Ruby, chief executive officer of Ruby Vesture Exports, inaugurating a workshop on fashion designing at Ideal Arts and Science College, Cherpulassery, on Wednesday. Aysha Ruby, chief executive officer of Ruby Vesture Exports and the first Indian senator of Germany’s BWA (Federal Association for Economic Development and Foreign Trade), has urged the next generation of designers to prioritise eco-friendly textile production and promote reuse. Speaking at a fashion design workshop at Ideal Arts and Science College, Cherpulassery, on Wednesday, Ms. Ruby stressed the social and environmental responsibilities of fashion. “Fashion is not merely an aesthetic pursuit; it carries social and environmental responsibility,” she said, pointing out the growing global demand for ethically produced and sustainable fashion products. The workshop was organised by the college’s Women Development Cell in association with the Department of Business and Management Studies. Principal Sainul Abideen Puthanazhi presided over the function. The college conferred Ms. Ruby with its Naari Udayamita Samman for her contributions to entrepreneurship and sustainable business practices. “Her work aligns commercial success with social responsibility,” said Dr. Puthanazhi. Faculty member Mohammed Unais P. delivered the keynote address. Sneha S., Santhini C.N., Sreenithya C., and Lijitha O.K. also spoke.
