Demolition drive at nine locations in Bengaluru

The North City Corporation on Saturday carried out demolition and clearance operations against illegal constructions at nine locations across its jurisdiction, following directions issued by Corporation Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar. 

The action targeted portions and additional floors of buildings that had been constructed either without authorisation or in deviation from approved building plans. The commissioner had instructed officials to identify unauthorised constructions, plan violations and encroachments on government land, and to initiate strict enforcement measures. 

Survey and clearance operations were conducted in the Hebbal, Vidyaranyapura, Yelahanka and Byatarayanapura divisions.  

Access to toilet

The East City Corporation Commissioner, D.S. Ramesh, has issued instructions to ensure access to toilet facilities for all sanitation workers, following complaints of denial of access at public and commercial establishments. 

The directive was issued after P. Raghu, chairman of the Karnataka State Safai Karmachari Commission, held an interaction with sanitation staff, who highlighted the severe difficulties they face due to the lack of accessible toilets at work locations. 

Officials warned that strict legal action would be initiated against any individual or establishment found obstructing or restricting sanitation workers from accessing toilets.
