Justice Mini Pushkarna issued notice to Ms. Rani Kapur on an application by Ms. Priya Kapur seeking initiation of action against her for perjury and asked her to submit her reply. Ms. Priya Kapur’s application alleged that there are “unimpeachable documents”, such as affidavits and photographs, to show that Ms. Rani Kapur made a “deliberate and false statement on oath” that she did not sign the RK Family Trust Deed or read its contents. The court also issued notice to Ms. Rani Kapur on Priya’s plea seeking dismissal of the lawsuit for concealing and suppressing material. The ongoing litigation centres on late Mr. Sunjay Kapur’s estate and has pitted his third wife, Ms. Priya Sachdev Kapur, against his mother Ms. Rani Kapur and his former wife, actor Ms. Karisma Kapoor, through their two children. Ms. Priya Kapur claims that late Mr. Sunjay Kapur left his entire personal estate to her under a 2025 will, which she has produced before the court. The will has been challenged by Ms. Karisma Kapoor’s children as forged, a challenge that has been joined by Ms. Rani Kapur. On Tuesday (February 10, 2026), the court urged members of the Kapur family to explore mediation to resolve the dispute over the RK Family Trust, valued at several thousand crore rupees, observing that inherited wealth should not become a source of lasting family conflict. Justice Pushkarna, while hearing multiple applications in relation to the ongoing dispute, observed that, “this is a very sorry state of affairs” and suggested the parties involved resolve the dispute in a peaceful manner. The judge reminded the parties, “These are the fruits of someone else’s labour and a blessing on you. Let it not turn into a curse”.
