Ruckus continued in the Delhi Assembly on Thursday (January 8, 2025) with both the BJP and the AAP accusing each other of insulting Guru Tegh Bahadur.

The BJP had sought to cancel Atishi’s membership against alleged comments made by senior AAP leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Atishi against Guru Tegh Bahadur in the House on Tuesday (January 6).

On Thursday, the AAP alleged that BJP leader and Law Minister Kapil Mishra has posted an “edited fake” video of Atishi’s alleged comments on social media and it’s an “insult” of the Guru.

AAP members then demanded the suspension of Mr. Mishra and all MLAs who reposted the video.

The House was adjourned twice on Thursday with MLAs of both ruling and opposition protesting in the well of the House.

Forensic investigation

Speaker Vijender Gupta said that the video, on which the AAP raised objections, would be sent to the forensics department for investigation and a report be submitted to the Assembly in 15 days.

The speaker requested Leader of Opposition (LoP) Atishi to come to the House and present her side.
