A Delhi court on Tuesday remanded Sarbjit Singh in eight days’ police custody for further questioning, a day after he allegedly drove an SUV through gate No. 2 and breached the Delhi Assembly premises. Meanwhile, the police announced the suspension of a Sub-Inspector (SI) and an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) from the Assembly’s security unit in connection with the security breach.

In a major security lapse on Monday, Mr. Singh drove his vehicle through a police picket and placed an artificial plant on the porch near the office of Speaker Vijender Gupta, who was present there at the time. CCTV footage showed the accused spending at least five minutes on the premises before driving off, an officer said. Mr. Singh was arrested nearly two hours later from Roop Nagar.
