The Federation of Dalit Organisations in Mysuru has threatened to hold a protest demonstration against Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) Vice-Chancellor Sharanappa V. Halase on Wednesday. Members of various Dalit organisations including Dalita Sangharsha Samiti (DSS) and Dalit students’ organisations are expected to join the protest to be held in front of the Administrative Block of KSOU in Mysuru seeking the Vice-Chancellor’s dismissal for “allowing and participating” in a conference on Hindutva ideologue Deendayal Upadhyaya in the University premises in defiance of the State government’s directions. DSS leader and Federation’s representative Chornalli Shivanna said the Federation will submit a memorandum to the authorities seeking the Vice-Chancellor’s removal. The aim of the conference organised in the KSOU campus recently does not conform to the objectives of the University, he said.
